German Soccer Says They are Playing the U.S. in May

This was inevitable was it not?  The former boss of the German Men’s National Soccer Team, Jurgen Klinsmann, may have called up his former assistant to set up a two match exhibition swing in May.  Germany’s current coach Joachim “Jogi” Löw was an assistant under Klinsmann during the 2006 World Cup before taking over the job as top boss.  The news came as both squads were prepping for international friendlies in which neither team excelled.

Löw took over as head coach after Germany finished third in the 2006 World Cup with Klinsmann at the helm.  Now the two will face each other at a to be determined venue on May 29th.  The Deutscher Fußball-Bund or DFB as they are known in Germany stated this will be part of a two match swing in the United States.  The second match will take place on June 2nd against an unidentified opponent.

The match will come in the middle of hexagonal World Cup qualifying for the U.S.  They face Jamaica on June 7th and play Panama just four days later.  The German side will have its players based in Germany at its disposal as Bundesliga play wraps up on May 18th.  However, Real Madrid stars Mesut Oezil and Sami Khedira do not play their final match until June 1.

Information regarding location for this friendly as well as the home hexagonal matches should be released in the next couple months.
