Aston Villa got a much needed win with two U.S. players having a hand in moving them out of a relegation spot.  Eric Lichaj played 66 minutes after Enda Stevens limped off the field.  However, Brad Guzan was the story as he extended his scoreless streak to 196 minutes in the 1-0 win over Reading.  Guzan only made three saves but recorded his third clean sheet in the month of November.  He made a sprawling leg save late in the match before Aston Villa took the lead.  Villa is now two points clear of relegation.

Sacha Kljestan and Anderlecht moved on to the Belgium Cup Quarterfinals with a 2-0 victory over Mechelen.  Kljestan assisted on the game winner.  After a substitution in the 70th minute he was given the captain’s armband and his corner in the second extra session found a teammate to push home the winner.  Anderlecht now awaits its next opponents in the Beker van België.

In the Bundesliga, Jermaine Jones got the day off as Schalke beat Hamburg 3-1.  However, Steve Cherundolo played the full match for Hannover as they rebounded from a minor losing streak to get past Fürth 2-0.  A rising star in the Bundesliga is Shawn Parker.  He plays for Mainz and is eligible to play for the U.S. Men’s National Team.  He had a goal and an assist in their 3-1 victory over Frankfurt.
