U.S. Elsewhere: Villa & Stoke Draw, Jones Red Card, Anderlecht Dominate

Brad Guzan and Eric Lichaj finished a 0-0 draw with Geoff Cameron and Stoke City.    Premier League stats say that none of Guzan’s four saves were actually on target.  Aston Villa recorded six shots on target and generated more chances than Stoke.  All players went the distance as Guzan’s clean sheet kept Villa two points clear of relegation.  Cameron and Stoke sit in 9th place, just three points back of fourth place Tottenham.  Clint Dempsey and the Spurs face off with Tim Howard and Everton tomorrow.

In Germany contenders Schalke and Jermaine Jones were dealt a blow in a 3-1 loss to Stuttgart.  With his team up a man, Jones recorded a red card in the 73rd minute, just seven minutes after Stuttgart were sent to ten men.    Vedad Ibesivic recorded a hat trick for Stuttgart.  You can see the tackle that got the red below.  Was it worthy of a red?

Finally, Anderlecht and Sacha Kljestan took out their frustration from not making the Europa League round of 32 on Mons.  Kljestan recorded an assist on the opening goal en route to a 5-0 victory.  The win gave them a six point league atop the table.
