U.S. Elsewhere: Clint Dempsey & Terrence Boyd Score, Tim Howard & Steve Cherundolo Win

Tottenham and Everton were scoreless at the half as Clint Dempsey squared off with Tim Howard.  The match was one sided some chances but defensive play winning out.  Overall, Everton had the better chances and more possession.  Howard wasn’t really tested until the 54th minute.  Then in the 75th minute Dempsey struck one for Spurs that caught a deflection and got past Howard.  However, two late goals in the 90th and 90+2 allowed Everton to get out of Goodison Park with three points.  Perhaps that is the correct result. You can see the highlights after the break as well as more information on U.S. players abroad.

In the Austrian Bundesliga Terrence Boyd scored the game winner for Rapid Vienna in a 2-1 win over FC Wacker Tirol.  The win kept Rapid in third place, only trailing second place Salzburg on goal differential.  Boyd has tallied in four of the last five matches.  He only saw about 18 minutes in the fixture he failed to score.

In Germany, Steve Cherundolo and Hannover secured a big comeback victory over second place Bayer Leverkusen.  Leverkusen struck in the third minute, but Hannover played a clean, tactical match taking the fixture 3-2.  Cherundolo went the full match.  The win pulls Hannover to 10th spot, but only fou points back of third place Borussia Dortmund.
