Soccer: A Beautiful Numbers Game Podcast

We were honored to be joined by Zach Slaton during this Google Hangout/Podcast.  Zach Slaton has been writing about the intersection of soccer and statistics for nearly three years at his “A Beautiful Numbers Game” blog, which is currently hosted at Forbes.com.  You can also find his work at the BettingExpert.com blog and in the Howler Magazine and Blizzard print quarterlies.  He’s also a member of the Transfer Price Index, which provides ongoing analysis of English Premier League transfers and their impact on that league’s play.

In this edition we talk about Zach’s love of the game and what led him down the statistical side.  We also look at predicting CONCACAF hex qualifying and how the U.S. Soccer program can continue to grow. Also what should MLS fans be looking forward to in regards to their teams impending successes or failures?

Zach also talks about the transfer market in Europe and the attempts to reign in spending.  Also we discuss the impact of a playoff in the Premier League.

Though we focus on the game in the United States, as always we are an equal opportunity blog and love to have many viewpoints expressed through our forum.
