The National Women’s Soccer League announced their inaugural schedule for the 2013 year on Tuesday. Portland visit Kansas City on April 13th in the lone match the day the season kicks off. The other six teams will being their respective seasons on the following day. The majority of the matches will be played on weekends or holidays during the 19-week schedule. Each team will have 11 home and 11 away matches. The final match will take place the weekend of August 18th with playoffs for the top four teams occurring the following weekend. The NWSL champion will be crowned on August 31.
April 21st will be the first Portland versus Seattle, Hope Solo’s squad, match held at JELD-WEN Field. Western New York and Abby Wambach never leave home in May and their first match up against Alex Morgan and the Portland Thorns is July 14th. The first overall pick in the college draft, Zakiya Bywaters, and the Chicago Red Stars take on Tiffany McCarty, the number two pick, and the Washington Spirit on July 10.
