Morning Aggregate: Juninho Suspension Doubles, Jozy Altidore Interview

Jimmy Nielsen may have embellished it a bit, but Juninho definitely kicked the ball right at him in midweek action.  This came after he sent a free kick right into Aurelion Collin’s “midsection” in what seemed like a horrible miscue.  It was a frustrating game for the New York Red Bulls and perhaps he thought Nielsen had starting milking the clock way too early, but Juninho’s suspension was extended to two games by the MLS disciplinary committee.  He will now miss the upcoming match against Toronto after missing the weekend match.

Jozy Altidore visited the NASN’s The Best Soccer Show with Jason Davis.  It is worth a listen as he talks U.S. Men’s National Team and what he probably knows is an impending transfer during the summer window.  He also talks about the serious issue of racism in soccer after being a victim of it this season at AZ Alkmaar.

Speaking of NASN, they have a new morning show that is not yet a month old called American Soccer Morning.  It is a very informative show that covers a ton of topics between 9 and 11 AM ET.  However, it is listener supporter.  Please consider making a pledge.

When you are part of a new soccer league you have to make sacrifices.  For the Washington Spirit, that means living at a retirement facility.  Robyn Gayle and Diana Matheson have a bronze medal from the Olympics but they get to take part in activities with the elderly.

With Sunil Gulati, President of the U.S. Soccer Federation, recently appointed to the 25-member FIFA board, he is still hoping to see a World Cup in the United States.   The next possible date would be 2026.

Do you have a couple hours?  Feel free to read through the CONCACAF Integrity Report.  It shows a lot of corruption in the system including logging into antiquating Quickbooks programs using log-ins from other uses and no real auditing system.  Maxi Rodriguez tweeted some of the best bits of corruption last night.
