Klinsmann names 24 players roster for USMNT friendly vs. Ukraine

The USMNT is set to take on Ukraine in a friendly next Wednesday, and with that approaching us, Jurgen Klinsmann has named the 24 guys that will suit up.

Most notable, defender Oguchi Onyewu and midfielder Brek Shea return to the squad for the first time since the CONCACAF Gold Cup last summer. Midfielder Danny Williams also got the call and may very well play in his first national match since February of 2013. Among the other 21 players to be named to the roster for Wednesday’s match, defender Tim Ream will be in Larnaca, Cyprus with the team for the first time since August.

Klinsmann continued to show his appreciation for the game overseas and selected just three players based outside of Europe. Toronto midfielder Michael Bradley and Seattle’s Clint Dempsey were the big names on the list out of the MLS, and both are no-brainers.

To round out the roster, Klinsmann selected the following 18 players.

Cody Cropper – Goalkeeper

Brad Guzan – Goalkeeper

Tim Howard – Goalkeeper

John Brooks – Defender

Geoff Cameron – Defender

Edgar Castillo – Defender

Alfredo Morales – Defender

Will Packwood – Defender

Alejandro Bedoya – Midfielder

Mix Diskerud – Midfielder

Fabian Johnson – Midfielder

Jermaine Jones – Midfielder

Sacha Kljestan – Midfielder

Juan Agudelo – Forward

Jozy Altidore – Forward

Terrence Boyd – Forward

Julian Green – Forward

Aron Johannsson – Forward

The team will gather in Frankfurt, Germany on Sunday to train for two days. In addition, this game will be the last time the European-based players will get the opportunity to train together before Klinsmann selects his roster for training camp this May leading up to the World Cup.
