FIFA Tournaments Today Preview: July 24th, 2014

This edition of FIFA Tournaments Today Preview showcases a few UEFA events along with another International Friendly Cup.

2014-15 UEFA Europa League

Second Qualifying Round – Leg 2 – Day 2

Today, 39 games will take place to decide who will advance to the Third Qualifying Round. Metalurg Skopje from Macedonia advanced on Tuesday and avoid the fray of today’s packed schedule. There are plenty of games to follow and a lot of action to be had, so fire up those Flashscore apps (not an endorsement, but I find that app very useful).

2014 UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship

Both Semifinals will take place today in Norway to decide the participants of the 2014 U-19 Women’s Euro Finals. Norway won Group A through a +4 advantage in goal differential and they will be taking on Spain who finished in 2nd in Group B. A stunning loss to Ireland in their first game crippled Spain’s chances to win the group.

In the other Semifinal, Netherlands will take on the Republic of Ireland. Ireland won Group B after sweeping aside their opponents and hitting a perfect 9 points with a goal differential of +3. The Netherlands were edged in Group A due to goal differential with their game against Norway being the only draw in their 7-point Group Stage effort.

The winners will play in the Finals that will take place on July 27th in Oslo.

2014 International Champions Cup

Day 1 – Match 1

The International Champions Cup kicks off tomorrow in Toronto, Canada when Olympiacos takes on AC Milan in Group B action. This will be the only match held in Canada for the tournament as the rest will be played in the United States. The winners of Group A and Group B will face off in a 1-game final in Florida in August.

While there aren’t that many separate tournaments taking place, there are plenty of games to follow.
