Manchester United got their 2014-2015 campaign underway with a friendly against the Los Angeles Galaxy two nights ago and thrashed them 7-0. Ander Herrera looked amazing, Wayne Rooney was great, and Ashley Young wasn’t horrible. It was a dream first game even if a friendly, and a great start for Louis Van Gaal who made it clear he wasn’t playing around. So when United takes on A.S. Roma in the Guinness International Champions Cup this Saturday, will we see more of the same? Probably. This is how.
Stay the course. United demolished the Galaxy by debuting a 3-5-2 formation and playing first team players like Herrera, Rooney, Mata, De Gea, and Luke Shaw. That is likely what United will do. The passing that United displayed was Barcelona like, Ander Herrera was looking like a great Center Midfielder, something United hasn’t had since a man by the name of Paul Scholes. Expect more of the same.
Let Ander run wild. Ander Herrera was the man of the match Wednesday and he is likely to be in the lineup tomorrow, let him run wild and United will walk away with an easy victory.
Calm Luke Shaw down. Shaw in his United debut looked a bit nervous. He was taking hard touches, wasn’t tracking back fast enough, leaving the defense open to counters, and a little shaky. Shaw needs to just calm down and let the game come to him, instead of trying to be the hero that he was at Southampton.
Manchester United are the favorites for this clash against Italian side A.S. Roma and should they do what they did against the Galaxy to Roma, United will win this one easily.
