Aaron Ramsey: Arsenal To Give Strong Showing In Premier League

Arsenal won 3-0 on Sunday against Premier League Champions Manchester City, and star man Aaron Ramsey believes that the club will be much stronger in this campaign compared to last season.

Last year, Arsenal endured heavy defeats to some of their league chasing rivals, they lost 6-3 to Manchester City, 5-1 against Liverpool and 6-0 to Chelsea. But this is a thing of the past according to Ramsey:

“The thing we need to improve is our form against the big teams away from home,” said the Welsh midfielder. “We will learn our lessons and you will see a different Arsenal in away games.”

Despite their big losses away from home, Arsenal still managed to finish fourth in the Premier League, just seven points behind eventual winners City.

Ramsey was talking after the Community Shield final win. And although the Gunners won 3-0, there were still concerns about the second half performance. Arsene Wenger said:

“We played well, especially in the first half. We defended very well and had good variation in our attacking display. In the second half, we couldn’t sustain completely physically what we did in the first but we kept great togetherness and desire to fight together.”

Of course, the main goal is for Arsenal to win the Premier League, something that haven’t managed to do since 2004. But we should remember that they have finished in the Top 4 every year since, and without spending big.

The real spending in earnest started at the beginning of last season. Arsenal splashed out on Mesut Ozil, their first marquee signing for years. Now, this season, Wenger has already spent just over £110m.

So, can Arsenal win the Premier League this season. They have a better shot at it this year than they have in the recent past with their new signings and rekindled ambition. You can sense it is close, it cannot be too many years away. Even Arsene is excited, and when he gets excited, you know something special is about to happen.

“I’m excited and cautious as well,” The Frenchman explained. “We want to win Premier League and have a desire to do it but we are conscious as well that there are many good teams in the league.”
