Paris Saint-Germain prepare to take on Bastia in the second match day of the season in a home match at the Parc des Princes.
The Parisians come into the second match day 12th in the league after a disappointing 2-2 draw against Stade Riems.
The squad will feature new signing David Luiz who made his debut for the Parisians on Monday in a friendly against Napoli. Speaking with PSG.com, Luiz spoke of his fondness of playing with the club,
“A new adventure starts for me tonight (August 11), and I very happy. It was a very tough match because I’m still lacking match fitness. But my Paris career has started with a win and that is a good thing.”
Luiz has hailed praise from PSG club president Nasser Al-Khaleifi who was confident with his newest signing.
Absent from the match will be captain Thiago Silva who suffered a leg injury in the Monday friendly against Napoli. Also absent is 19-year-old midfielder Adrien Rabiot who is reportedly looking to make a move out the Parisian club. PSG have allegedly received offers from Chelsea, Arsenal and Juventus for the young midfielder.
Bastia come into the match with a 3-3 draw on their heads against Marseille. The club is coached by Claude Makelele, the former assistant manager of PSG.
Last season the Parisians defeated Bastia on both meetings and are hoping to do the same again.
