Fernando Torres, once among the best strikers in world football until he made the decision to leave Anfield to move down South to the capital of England, to Chelsea and since then it has all seemingly gone down hill.

When Torres first came to England, he had lots of expectations and Liverpool were very excited of the prospect of a young Spanish striker coming to Anfield. Torres did not disappoint as he fast become one of the best strikers in the Premier League and the world.

Then Torres made an awful decision, and that isn’t exaggerating it. In the January of 2011 he broke Liverpool fan’s hearts and moved to rivals Chelsea in a mega £50 million deal and his career has suffered ever since this moment and it is fair to say since then Torres should stay away from social media, as he has been terrorized by football fans from across the globe.

His lack of goals at Chelsea meant his reputation was completely lost and especially that miss against Manchester United, which pretty much put the icing on the cake for Torres during a terrible time at Chelsea. Although, he will always be remembered for one magical moment that will live in Chelsea memory forever, his last-minute goal against Barcelona at the Nou Camp that sent Chelsea to the Champions League final, which they eventually won on penalties against Bayern Munich.

However, these moments from Torres weren’t regular enough and it ended in him being shipped out to AC Milan  on loan after a horrible few years in the Premier League with Chelsea. His move to Italy was soon made permanent, but after 10 games and one goal later he was sent back on loan to his boyhood club Atletico Madrid in 2015.

All of a sudden Torres seems at home again and really looks close to his old self. He is yet to reach the heights of his younger years in Spain and at Liverpool but he has improved and contributed to Atletico Madrid’s title challenge.

In recent weeks it seems that Torres has got his mojo back and is finding the back of the net again. He recently scored five goals in five games, including a vital goal in the first of their two legs against Barcelona in the Champions League. He was also sent off in this game, but Madrid eventually won and he played the first leg of their semi-final against Bayern Munich last night in a game which Torres led the line for Madrid.

His goal tally for this season is now into double figures and the form he has shown of late proves that he hasn’t finished his goal scoring for this season as Atletico Madrid are fighting for the La Liga title and the Champions League.

Personally, I think it is great seeing Torres back on form after Chelsea pretty much ruined his career. He was recently quoted saying it would be a dream to win La Liga with his boyhood club and this just shows the confidence he has now and the goals are starting to come back to his game.

Will his flurry of form this season help him push for a place in the Spain squad for this summers Euros in France?

He certainly deserves it and he has shown time and time again that he can come up with the goods for his country and a Torres that is on form is one of the best strikers in the world, so they would be mad not to consider him for the final squad.
