Hugo Lloris wants Tottenham to sign a fellow Frenchman

Tottenham already follow their captain Hugo Lloris on the pitch, but Spurs should consider following him in the transfer market as well. The French international has a pretty good ideas as to who the club should sign this summer.

The object of Lloris’ fancy is Monaco winger Thomas Lemar. The two play together for their country and Tottenham have been strongly linked with Lemar over the past several weeks.

Lloris was asked about his club’s interest in Lemar and did a pretty poor job of cooling down the rumours. The talented shot stopper smiled and told reporters they were asking the right question but claimed he “could not reply.”

Fortunately for Spurs, Lloris is smoother on the pitch than he is with the press. His comments have only served to increase rumours of Tottenham’s interest in Lemar to an absolute fever pitch. Lloris may as well have held up a neon sign declaring Daniel Levy’s undying love for the Monaco winger.

If you watched Lemar in his most recent match against England, it’s easy to see why Pochettino is interested in his services. He approaches the game just like the Argentine manager. He was quick to put in a challenge when necessary and didn’t hesitate to take England defenders on with the ball at his feet. That fearless style of play would fit in perfectly under Pochettino.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

Of course, Monaco don’t want to allow the 21-year-old winger to leave this summer. Unfortunately, the French champions seem set for an exodus of star power this summer. Kylian Mbappe grabs most of the headlines but he isn’t the only Monaco star attracting big time transfer interest. The club could lose as many as six players to the Premier League alone this summer.

Tottenham aren’t even the only club in North London that want to sign Lemar. Arsenal and Arsene Wenger have also taken a shine to the French starlet. Wenger will try to tout his history of bringing through talented Frenchman to prominence to sway Lemar to sign with the Gunners.

Fortunately, Pochettino will have Champions League football to sell. Tottenham’s involvement in the prestigious competition could easily be the deciding factor in what should be a tense transfer race.

Hugo Lloris is great at keeping shots out of the back of the Spurs net, but he needs to help Tottenham bring a player to the club this summer. Lloris could provide Pochettino a massive assist by helping Spurs sign Thomas Lemar.
