U.S. Soccer End of The Year Recap & 2013 Look Ahead: Twitter Style

As we wind down the hours in 2012 there is tempered optimism about the U.S. Men’s National Team.  Meanwhile the U.S. Women’s National Team accomplished just about every goal they had set forth in 2012.  As we move forward to the 100th year of U.S. Soccer it is good to reflect and also get ready for the new obstacles that are just ahead.  Here is a look at the past year and a glance in the crystal ball as seen through twitter.

One of the most heavily shared items on social media today was the look back at the Men’s National Team in video form as compiled by U.S. Soccer.  You can watch the video in our Hub as well.

This video prompted reflection from the soccer community regarding stand out moments.  The video showed two wonderful strikes by Michael Bradley, which are just small reasons many see him as the next captain of the squad.

Other than goals, there have been some memorable moments from Jurgen Klinsmann’s sideline animation to Deuce Face.  What are some of your favorite moments?

For the Women’s National Team, I think this sums it up.

imagination.  Maybe Tim Howard gets the rock steady award or Carlos Bocanegra gets the best wet hair look certificate.  We do like this one though.

Of course the new year is time for a renewed hope and when athletes make voyages home.  Bradley has been very prominent at the Wide World of Sports as families venture to Disney for the holidays. Perhaps it is a way for the players to regroup and get ready for a busy 2013.  There has to be plenty of energy at Disney.

What would the new year be without resolutions?  I think it is obvious for the Men: qualify for the World Cup, make a deep run in the Gold Cup, and establish a back line.  For the Women it is continuing their winning ways and helping Abby Wambach break records that should not stand too long as Alex Morgan will be right behind her.

However, for fans, I think most would agree with this.
