MLS Fantasy Soccer Manager 2014: Round 13 Tips

Andy Marlin-USA TODAY Sports

The 2014 MLS season has been incredibly exciting and we are only 12 weeks along!

For those of you who are just fans and enjoy seeing the sport as a whole continue to grow in the states, you have been very entertained. On the other side of things, for all of you who play MLS Fantasy Soccer Manager, you know how crazy and stressful this fantasy season has been. Thankfully, the good people here at The American Pitch, want to help you do your very best in week 13 by giving you some of our best tips.

Tip 1: Double Game Weeks For Two Clubs Mean Double Points For Players

-Both the Portland Timbers and Sporting Kansas City have two matches this week. Portland plays away at Chivas USA then home against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Portland has been heating-up recently, but the second match against the Whitecaps will be a dog fight that the Timbers will struggle to win.  Meanwhile, Sporting KC plays home against the New York Red Bulls and away against DC United. Normally, these matches would be pretty easy to predict, but with the massive gaps in the SKC defense, it is advised that you only start players on your team that will actually help you, not count against you if the team concedes two or more goals a match.

Tip 2: Start Dom Dwyer, Maxi Urruti and Diego Valeri.

-Dom Dwyer is tied for first in goals scored this season with 10. If he is not on your team, get is ASAP!

-Maxi Urruti is coming off a two goal game against the Red Bulls. He currently has five goals on the season and four in the past four games.

-Diego Valeri may cost you a little extra, but he is certainly living-up to the hype that surrounded him before the season started. He may only have two goals and three assists on the season, but he has been incredibly influential in making plays on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. He may not get you a lot of goals or assists, but he will generate a lot of points from his attacking and defending play.

Tip 3: Patrick Mullins and Diego Fagundez Are Must Haves

-Had you seen that tip before the month of May started, you would have laughed at me. Now, each player has scored four goals over the past four games and is showing no signs of stopping. These players are hot and affordable, if you want to go for them. If you are fortunate to already own them, make sure you start them both this week. Oh, and just a side note, the New England Revolution play the worst team in MLS, the Montreal Impact, this week, so the possibility of many goals being scored is huge.

Tip 4: Don’t Bet The House On The LA Galaxy Just Yet

-It truly is wonderful that Landon Donovan did break the MLS scoring record this past weekend, but that is no reason to go all-in for him in fantasy. To be completely honest, Donovan’s goal was not all that impressive, however, his goal-record certainly is. It can be assumed that Donovan is not done scoring goals this season, but it would be smart to wait a few more weeks to see just how he plays after the USMNT snub incident cools down.

We hope these tips help you during round 13 of MLS Fantasy Soccer Manager. Make sure to check back next week for more MLS Fantasy Soccer Manager tips.
