After his incredible rookie season so far in MLS, Harry Shipp must be terrified he’ll end up like Chicago Fire teammate Mike Magee, always just outside the World Cup roster. It seems that there’s room for home grown defenders and midfielders on the USMNT, but for whatever reason, fans and coaches are more inclined to look abroad for attacking talent. He’ll have tough competition for the role, between Julian Green and Clint Dempsey (who will only be 35).
