Tim Howard says Brad Guzan will be the USMNT starter in 2018. I do not believe him one bit. Either way, both will be well on to the wrong side of 30 by that point, and perpetual backup/Gold Cup star/cheerleader Nick Rimando will be 39 as well.

Enter MLS. One of these three will almost definitely be in Brazil, and may very well have to contribute meaningful minutes in World Cup qualifying. My bet? Sean Johnson. He’s more consistent than Hamid and more athletic than Irwin. He’s still got a ton of room for improvement though, and needs to surround himself with the right coaches in Chicago.
