A Clash For The Top Of Ligue 1: Paris St Germain v Bordeaux
Ligue 1 action proceeds again this weekend with a match up between 2nd place Paris St Germain and 3rd place FC Girondins de Bordeaux, in a fight for a more comfortable seat at the top. Seeing as how Marseille sit at 25 points ahead of PSG and Bordeaux’s 18 ( the gap is within goal differential), this match could stir a greater purpose than just a Ligue 1 meeting – but perhaps defy the odds and watch both clubs climb to the top to excel. There are quite a few factors leading Bordeaux down a tough path, but also many things which are key to their advantage.

The match up will take place at the French fortress, the Parc Des Princes, where PSG have yet to be defeated at home in Ligue 1. both clubs have clean sheets so far this season, but the opposition has been different for each club. An advantage in experience, but disadvantage to fatigue for PSG, as they would have just arrived home from their mid-week clash against APOEL in the Champions league. Their powerful meetings within Europe should pave the way for domination in France, but Laurent Blanc’s men have had too many issues with staleness this year, they need a rejuvenation. Considering Bordeaux are not only fighting for a stronger place in the top 3 in Ligue 1, they will also be looking to extend their clean streak and dismantle a home-side who is struggling with injury on all fronts.

How will Edinson Cavani shape the meeting?
Its as if the question has been asked game after game and still the stone is not turned. Will his influence finally be one that not only fans, but management have been anticipating? He was the deciding factor against APOEL on Wednesday in a late, yet narrow win against the much weaker side – otherwise the entirety of the squad truly lack the pace set by their leader, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He is dearly missed, and we can assume that his presence will bring shock to the opposition when that happens, unfortunately that will not be this weekend.
Paris will continue to see the return of Thiago Silva after his nerve racking return to match fitness in the Champions League – his subtle leadership will be a confident aura for the team who are missing their leading talismen. As reported by yahoo, Thiago Silva is positive about his return, Saturday’s match as well as the club’s form.
"“We were good together, we have to play like that [against APOEL] in the league. Now we need to think about Saturday. We will stand to make a great game. I want to thank all the medical staff [at] the club…[they have] done a good job [on getting me fit].”"
His encouragement for success is exactly what the the club needs, being under such circumstances.
