Hull City 0-1 Burnley

Speaking of maroon-sky blue color schemes, Burnley won everybody!  A brace by Ashley Barnes was enough for skipper Sean Dyche’s side as they essentially doubled their point total this season.  Unfortunately for Burnley, they remain in last.  On the other side, Hull City suffered its 2nd straight defeat, and hasn’t won since week seven.

West Ham 0-0  Aston Villa

Ah, the battle of the eerily similar home jerseys!  I’m not sure what is worse, the fact that West Ham couldn’t figure out a way to beat Villa or the fact that Villa is psyched about a 0-0 draw.  Unluckily for the Hammers, even the return of strikers Diafro Sakha and Andy Carroll could not push them past a Villain side that successfully evaded a sixth straight defeat.  In the words of West Ham Manager Sam Allardyce: “When our finishing was good, their goalkeeper (the American Brad Guzan) was even better.”

West Brom 0-2 Newcastle

Things may be looking up for Newcastle, this week’s result having lengthened their win streak to five.  No one is happier than Alan Pardew, who was on the brink of getting the axe a month ago.  But don’t let the score fool you, West Brom dominated stretches of this game, beating Newcastle in possession and shots. Yet it was the Magpies who were able to put more shots on target, converting two of them.  By the time Albion goalie James Foster made what’s being called the save of the week, it was far too late for West Brom.
