6. They’re The Two Biggest Names in MLS

Kansas City and Portland fans are going to disagree with this, but no matter who you support there is no getting around it.  Seattle and Los Angeles are the two biggest names, the two biggest national draws, and have two of the most complete rosters in MLS.  From the stars to the role players, both teams have blockbuster names whether they be cult heroes or World Cup veterans; Omar Gonzalez, Landon Donovan, DeAndre Yedlin, Obafemi Martins, Gonzalo Pineda, Clint Dempsey, Onyekachi Apam and Robbie Keane are all World Cup heroes for their respective countries, while names like Brad Evans, Marco Pappa, and Robbie Rogers are big as well.

The Galaxy is the most instantly recognizable name to casual MLS fans, and Seattle’s known around the USA and become infamous for its meteoric rise.  Both will garner a huge amount of interest from neutral fans such as me, whereas a team like FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake unfortunately will not despite RSL’s successes in recent years.  Star power may not always win championships, but it does get publicity.  And both of these teams are up to their necks in it.
