3. Landon Donovan Is Playing With a Vengeance

Yes, the Donovan soap opera (now available on iTunes ft. Boyz II Men and Five For Fighting) was a little awkward and drawn out.  Yes, he’s maybe been the center of attention for too much of this postseason.  But, in all fairness: Can you blame us for giving him the spotlight?? Once the retirement dust settled down, Donovan went beast-mode. He absolutely destroyed the best defense and goalkeeper in MLS, scoring perhaps his final hat trick of his career and notching one assist.

Seattle, who looked very offensively impotent against a sub-par defense in Dallas, should be very, very afraid.  While their defense held fast against some promising young FC Dallas talent, a case can be made that Dallas’ inexperience attackers, particularly Castillo, missed many opportunities and had poor positioning the entire night, never effectively pressing Seattle and leaving Seattle unstretched.  For a deeper explanation on the flaw of Dallas’s game plan, I direct you here.

This isn’t emotional last-goodbyes Donovan anymore. It’s the I’m-gonna-break-every-last-record-and-win-my-last-MLS-cup-and-show-everyone-we-deserved-the-supporters-shield-and-by-the-way-I’m-still-pissed-I-didn’t-make-the-World-Cup-team-I-hope-Jurgen-watches-as-I-burn-his-golden-boy-DeAndre-Yedlin-once-again Landon Donovan.
