MLS Playoffs: The West Will Be the Best
MLS Playoffs have had some exciting matches as well as some less interesting matches so far. The Eastern Conference has had some interesting games to say the least. The New England Revolution scored seven of the ten total goals in their two-leg series against the Columbus Crew. There’s been drama late in matches as the New York Red Bulls scored twice in the final ten minutes to knock out the defending champions, Sporting KC.

The match-ups in the Western Conference have been a little less interesting. Just because they are less interesting does not mean that they have been less entertaining. The knockout stage match between the Vancouver Whitecaps and FC Dallas was filled with drama from the beginning and boiled over after a controversial penalty awarded by referee Mark Geiger.
Real Salt Lake and Los Angeles Galaxy match was filled with defensive strategy by Salt Lake in the first leg resulting in a 0-0 tie. The Galaxy made sure to show the league why they are considered one of the favorites to win MLS Cup by trouncing Salt Lake 5-0 in leg two.
Leg one in the Seattle Sounders and Dallas series showed everybody exactly how the new away goals rules works in MLS after earning a 1-1 win on the road. The Sounders followed that up with an exciting 0-0 draw (more on that in a moment) at home on Monday night to advance to the Western Conference for only their second time.

Yes, I said the Sounders played to an exciting 0-0 draw on Monday night. That seems to be a bit of an oxymoron. How can a goalless draw be exciting?
As a supporter knowing that if Dallas scores, the Sounders have to score to bring it back level in order to avoid elimination. The Sounders had their chances to score as well as Dallas. I for one cannot wait to watch the replay later tonight with my daughter just to see how it appeared on television.
The conference finals will be one to watch. The MLS Playoffs have been been intriguing so far and it is a shame we have to wait two weeks until play begins again. The four teams that remain are capable of scoring at any minute but I feel that the winner of the Western Conference finals will be the won winning MLS Cup.
I repeat MLS Cup winner will be from the Western Conference. Sorry Eastern Conference, you’re just not quite there yet.
