What can I say about Obafemi Martins?

There is a lot to say about him. I know he has only been with the Sounders since March of 2013 but he has taken this club to an entirely different level. He holds the record for goals scored in an MLS season as well as goals scored across all competitions as a Sounder with 17. He also tied the team record for assists in a season with 13.

The chemistry that he has built with US International Clint Dempsey has made them one of the most feared attacking duos in the league. He’s quick, athletic and is physically strong enough to battle with the best center backs in the league.

If it weren’t for Martins playing the way he did all year and while Dempsey was away on World Cup duty, who knows how well the Sounders would have done this year. Other players stepped up while Dempsey was away, but it was Martins who kept the team together with his unselfish game play.
