I had a real hard time making this selection for my top players for the Sounders in MLS. Fredy Montero has gone on to play in Champions League play with Sporting CP in Portugal. Prior to that all Montero did for the Sounders was score 47 goals in 119 appearance from 2009 to 2012.

Montero scored the Sounders first ever goal in MLS play and well as their third. He also was credited for an assist on the second goal of that game back on March 19, 2009.

Here are a few of the accolades Montero received as a Sounder:

1. Montero was named MLS Humanitarian of the Month for March 2011 after raising over $29,000 to donate towards relief for victims of the 2010 Colombian floods.

2. Montero was named the MLS Player of the Week for the first week of the 2009 MLS season for his two goals.

3. Montero was named MLS Player of the Month for March 2009 as he won the first two Goals of the Week.

4. Named to the 2009 and 2010 MLS All-Star Game, playing in the 2009 match.

At the time of his departure, Montero held (and still does) the record for goals scored as a Sounder in MLS play.
