Well, that was embarrassing.  It’s becoming pretty painfully obvious that after losing 4-1 to a team that, frankly, is worse than us, the United States ends what was a pretty good 2014 on the worst note possible.  While 2-1 to Colombia is relatively respectable, losing 4-1 to the Republic of Ireland (fielding a C team I may add), is a low point to the year.  Considering how impressive the USMNT looked in the first half, this result is particularly disturbing to many.

Like always, friendlies are to be taken with a grain of salt. But come on! 4-1 against Ireland are you kidding me??? No, unfortunately a blowout loss like this is no joking matter.  Against a team like Ireland who is easily beatable when put against most average national teams, getting caught with our pants behind our waists will send shock waves throughout the entire American Soccer Infrastructure.
