The “Young Generation” Is Light Years Behind

You can take it two ways. Either our youngsters are light years behind in terms of how good our veterans were when they were this age, or our youngsters are light years behind other nations’ youngsters.  Both answers are right, the new guys who have been called in have looked hapless.  Bobby Wood is yet to score despite coming agonizingly close, Alfredo Morales was abysmal today and both Morris and Rubin failed to make an impact as substitutes.

The USA looks once again like a team without an identity, something that plagued them in the late 00’s and early ’10s under Bob Bradley.  Maybe it’s how transient we have become, or maybe it’s just fatigue and players falling flat in the 2nd half.  Either way, the USMNT is having games dictated TO them by the likes of Ireland and Honduras, both obvious World Cup favorites.
