Mix Diskerud: Four Possible Landing Spots in MLS

Portland Timbers

Another team to look for of the MLS clubs that may be after Mix Diskerud is the Portland Timbers. It was only a few years ago that Diskerud had nearly signed a deal with the Timbers on a free transfer. That deal did not pan out, obviously, with Portland eventually signing Diego Valeri, but will this be a chance for the two sides to come to a deal?

    • Out of all the possibilities I have listed here, I believe the Timbers have the least chance of signing Mix simply because they opted for Valeri anyway , and I to Timbers fans, I am sure signing Valeri was a pretty good choice based on his form this season. While this may be true, the Timbers may still try to pursue Mix Diskerud.

    With Valeri in an attacking midfielder role and also Darlington Nagbe (a possible future USMNT contender) playing a similar role, they may not want to over clutter their midfielder with another essential attacking midfielder. Mix could play a bit deeper behind those two, but it may still be too cluttered of a midfield, and that would only lead to problems.

    Also would the bitter contract negotiation process play a role in Diskerud’s willingness to listen to the Timbers owners? We may never know the answer to that question, but do not be surprised if the Timbers pop up as a potential landing spot for the USMNT midfielder.
