The Sunshine State’s forwards are bound to put enormous pressure on any opponent they face. Two World Cup veterans in Wondolowski and Gomez give them tremendous experience, while the consistent Barrett and the up-and-coming Zardes provide, once again, excellent depth. Cali’s forwards look even more impressive considering it would have included Landon Donovan, had he not chosen to retire. Which means one of these four CONCACAF stars would not be on the team and would have to explore the option to play for another state they had connections to.
Chad Barrett has often been the go-to sub for Seattle when its All-Star pairing need rest, and was vital to the Sounders when Clint Dempsey was gone for a month and then some on international duty in 2014. Fun fact: He’s the second Chad who currently plays on Seattle to feature on this roster. Chris Wondolowski and Herculez Gomez both went goalless in their time at the 2014 and 2010 World Cups, respectively. Gyasi Zardes is almost a shoe-in for the January Camp, after his breakout season with Bruce Arena’s Galaxy in 2o14.
