It appears to be the two questions that keeps popping up. When will Frank Lampard come to New York City FC? And when will Lampard’s Manchester City loan come to an end. Well, it appears that he could remain with Manchester City until the Summer if they pay Major League Soccer 6 million pounds (9,438,630 US Dollars).

For New York City FC and their fans, this would not be good news. Given the timeline above, Lampard would stay with MCFC until their 2014-15 EPL season ends and then join NYCFC almost halfway through their 2015 MLS season. This is not good for the team nor the league. Lampard is one of NYCFC’s designated players and should be with the team during training camp and the season opener.
If he is not, it will be detrimental to NYCFC has they try to start their inaugural season successfully. Lampard’s extended absence does not help NYCFC’s team chemistry. The team will already come in at a disadvantage as the starting XI will be coming in from different realms. Some players like Lampard and David Villa come from playing in Europe. Others will be coming from other MLS squads. In short, these players will need all the time they can get together in order to build and develop sound team chemistry.
Instead, it appears Lampard, one of NYCFC’s star players who Jason Kreis and the rest of the tactical staff is building around, won’t be available in a NYCFC until Summer. Ever since Manchester City was announced as part owner of NYCFC, I had a feeling they would get in the way of NYCFC’s game plan for the EPL side’s success.

Lampard has been on fire with Manchester City on the young EPL season. They sit in 2nd place behind a red-hot Chelsea FC side partly due to Lampard. Without him, it’s hard to see City currently sitting in the top 4.
For MLS’s sake, it would be making a pretty penny on Lampard’s reported loan extension. As stated above, they would make 9.438 million dollars based on the latest rumors as stated by Jaun Arango. However, they should do what is best for their own team’s sake. NYCFC needs to have Lampard back for preseason and the season opener.
Their season’s success and team chemistry depends on it. Without Lampard for their opener, NYCFC will have to alter their team chemistry midway through the team’s inaugural season. Likewise, it would be weird to not see one of the team’s two high-caliber stars in the Starting XI. It could cause fans to ask where Lampard is and start to question the club’s front office.
It will be interesting to see how long Lampard ends up across the pond. If Manchester City is so fond of Lampard and his services, why didn’t they sign him before NYCFC did? Nonetheless, NYCFC’s front office will need to think long and hard along with MLS before accepting any Lampard loan extension.
