Well, as my last post a couple of days ago pointed out, it is the most wonderful time of the year. No, I’m not talking about Christmas or Hanukah (Due to my place on the naughty list I get presents during neither holiday), I’m talking about end of the year awards . MLS has handed out its MVP, and goals/saves of the year. We’re still waiting on the Best XI, unless it came out and I’m just very far behind (which is entirely possible).

Not to be outdone by MLS, CONCACAF has released their year-end award candidates for their bests of the year. Categories include Best Male/Female Athlete, Manager of the Year, and Goal of the year amongst others. We thought, that in the spirit of the season, that we would review the candidates and choose what are the likely favorites to win each category. If you’d personally like to exercise your right as a citizen of the Beautiful Game, you may vote HERE. But remember: With great power, comes great responsibility. Favoritism is frowned upon (yet completely unenforceable so if you want to select a Costa Rican in every category go right on ahead).
So let’s get started, shall we? Categories in the following slides are: Male Player of the Year, Female Player of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Goal of the Year. Keep in mind that these awards are available to players at both the country and club level from any competition.
