Playing For 90 Soccer Show: Special MLS Edition

Today is a special MLS edition of the Playing For Soccer show. After a crazy past 36 hours in MLS, we here at Playing for 90 thought it felt necessary to do an emergency show to talk about all the happenings. My feelings for MLS continue to rise as the season draws closer and closer.

MLS 2015 looks to be a great season and after hearing all the recent transfer and league news break, it is no surprise that I almost lost my mind during today’s show.

The first order of business was the many transfer rumors and news surround Jozy Altidore and his possible move back to MLS. As great as it would be to see him back in MLS, he needs to make the right move for his career ASAP. MLS could give him a new beginning and help him find his scoring niche.

After the Altidore mess, the show shifts gears to NYCFC and the possibility of Mix Diskerud making his way to MLS. It seems to be the thing to do now for all USMNT players. Who will be the next player to make the jump across the pond? Brek Shea already did it, so it seems like the thing to do.

On top of the transfer news, the league released their 2015 schedule yesterday. The new schedule introduces a 12 team playoff system that allows six teams from each conference to get in. This system is a smart one now that MLS is up to 20 clubs in 2015.

To finish off the show, I spend a little time ranting about the New England Revolution and their lack of a true forward. As badly as I want Altidore or some other good player to come to New England, the move really seems unlikely to happen anytime soon.

Check out the show and let us know your thoughts!
