The United States Men’s National Team, USMNT, will resume their rivalry with CONCACAF foe Mexico on April 15 at 8:30 pm EST in San Antonio, TX. The match will take place at the Alamodome and will be the first time that the USMNT will have ever played a match in San Antonio.

The Alamodome had previously played host to the USWNT team back in October of 2013. The US and Mexico meet for the first time since April of 2014. The previous friendly between the teams was a 2-2 draw in front of 59,066 fans at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ.
Heading into their previous match, these two teams were heading in opposite directions. Mexico appeared to be on their way down while the United States looked to be heading to the top of the CONCACAF rankings. It’s amazing how much of a difference a year can make.
Both team did relatively well in the 2014 World Cup. Both advanced to the Round of 16, both losing heart breakers. Mexico’s defeat probably hurt a little bit more than the United States’. For those of you that don’t remember, just Google “Arjen Robben Flop” and you will see all you need to see. The United States lost in extra time 2-1 to Belgium. It is a shame that the US lost that match as USMNT goalkeeper Tim Howard had the game of his life.
We are still three months away from this match and we can’t look to far ahead. That being said, the USMNT have friendlies at the end of this month that they must concentrate on. They need to get to playing the style of football they played at the end of 2013 and middle part of 2014. If not, it will be a very, very long 2015 for Jurgen Klinsmann and the USMNT.

The game against Mexico comes 15 days after the U.S. closes out a two match trip to Europe. The USMNT will face off against Denmark on March 25 (3 p.m. ET, ESPN2, UniMas, UDN) and Switzerland on March 31 (12 p.m. ET, FOX Sports 1, UniMas, UDN).
I hope the people in San Antonio are ready to cheer on the USMNT. San Antonio has been one of the many cities rumored for potential MLS expansion. If they want to be taken seriously, the fans need to fill the Alamodome as full as possible to show Don Garber they are serious and deserve in team in the great city of San Antonio.
