Harry Shipp, Midfielder, Chicago Fire

Jun 4, 2014; Commerce City, CO, USA; Chicago Fire forward Harry Shipp (19) with the ball during the second half against the Colorado Rapids at Dick

The homegrown Shipp’s rookie campaign was worthy of Rookie of the Year recommendation, however he ultimately came up short.  The Notre Dame product was explosive at times, scoring a hat trick vs. New York and two goals vs. Seattle early on, but also went long stretches of the season unnoticed.  The dynamism is there in Shipp, and he’s already one of the most dangerous corner kick takers in MLS.

If his play gains a little more consistency, however, he could not only be in the All-Star conversation, but could elbow his way into the USMNT picture after being snubbed by Jurgen Klinsmann during the January camp. Shipp’s supporting cast has improved tenfold since last year, and Shipp should flourish surrounded by the fresh wave of European Veterans that Frank Yallop has been vehemently recruiting since the Fire ended their 2014 season in disappointing fashion.
