Nadia Nadim has been officially signed for the 2015 NWSL season by Sky Blue FC. The Jersey club probably had no greater objective this offseason than to bring back the 27-year-old Danish striker from Fortuna Hjørring, particularly since Denmark failed to qualify for the 2015 Women’s World Cup. Having a forward of her caliber puts the club in a better position than most as we head into the NWSL’s third season.

There had been rumblings since the end of last season that the club had plans to retain the dynamic scorer, who was originally born in Afghanistan and has been appearing regularly for Denmark since 2009. Her loan period with the club originally only extended to the end of the 2014 season, but Sky Blue’s plans to bring her back for the full 2015 season seem to have only been recently formalized. This is the kind of news that Sky Blue needed, particularly after appearing to lose out on Chioma Ubogagu, which is talked about more later in this article.
