This was special. Messi became La Liga all-time top goal-scorer beating Telmo Zarra’s record. One more milestone in Messi’s career.
The Argentinian forward became three months ago the top scorer in La Liga history with his fantastic free-kick goal against Sevilla, his second of the game. It was Messi’s 252nd league goal, which topped Athletic de Bilbao legend Telmo Zarra’s 251, who did most of his work in the 1940s and 50s.
This is the all-time stats comparison between Messi and his nemesis Cristiano Ronaldo:
