Home Advantage?

When was the last time Juventus lost a home game?  No, but really when was it?  It’s almost at the point where losing at home is just not an option or even a possibility for Juventus.  Bayern Munich were the last team to beat Juventus in the Juventus Stadium over two years ago.  Come Tuesday it will be hard to believe BVB will be able to take advantage of La Vecchia Signora in her own home.  The return fixture in Dortmund at the Westfalenstadion is just as big a force to reckon with as the Juventus Stadium.  These are two of the most colorful fans in Europe.  Dortmund’s fans are famous for their tifos and even more recently for confronting their players about their recent struggles.  They care and that’s the beauty of this matchup.

Advantage: DRAW.

I refuse to talk about 1997 and the 3-1 triumph of Dortmund over Juventus in the Champions League final.  What does a game almost twenty years ago have to do with the present?  The answer is nothing.  Sure, it is fun to point at history and trust me not many people appreciate history more than yours truly, but this matchup on hand will be the most entertaining of all the matchups and I say that with the utmost faith in these two teams. You are taught a few things by your elders when you are a boy or girl growing up fascinated by the game and there is one that always sticks out to me.  “The field is flat and the ball is round.  A bounce here and a bounce there and anything is possible.”

Winner:  We will be anxiously waiting to see!  Let’s enjoy this wonderful matchup.
