The Premier League Game of Thrones
By Ryan Wrenn
Chris Ramsey – Queens Park Rangers
Projected Finish: 19th
How’d he do?
Harry Redknapp’s abrupt exit after the closing of the January transfer window left an already struggling QPR in the lurch. Owner Tony Fernandes made a lot of noise about an exciting new appointment, but ultimately the job fell to Redknapp’s assistant Chris Ramsey. In fairness to Ramsey, this was never going to be a successful Premier League campaign. It’s likely that QPR’s promotion from the Championship came too soon for a team only just beginning to recover from the excesses of their last spell in the Premier League. Their lifeless performances throughout the season could not be saved by Redknapp, Ramsey or likely anyone else for that matter.
Season Highlight: The likely-too-late drubbing 4-1 of West Brom earlier this month.
Season Lowlight: Feww teams have looked more inept than in QPR’s 0-4 loss to Tottenham early in the season.
Future?
Out. Fernandes will want to find a more experienced managed than Ramsey for their likely Championship campaign next season.
