The Premier League Game of Thrones
By Ryan Wrenn
Dick Advocaat – Sunderland
Projected Finish: 17th
How’d he do?
It seems unfair to make any judgments, positive or negative, based on merely a month of service. Advocaat’s done it all in soccer, but saving a team in a mere two months seems like it would be an improbable task for any manager. If Sunderland do stay up it will likely be due to the failures of those below them rather than any success Advocaat can muster.
Season Highlight: The 1-0 win over rivals Newcastle.
Season Lowlight: Adam Johnson’s recent difficulties with the law and human decency.
Future?
Out. Advocaat was brought in merely to save the club from two more months of Gus Poyet. He will most likely cede control of Sunderland in the summer unless he can produce an unlikely run of good form.
