Garry Monk – Swansea

Projected Finish: 8th

How’d he do?

Monk is the a club legend at Swansea and was appointed manager after the late departure of Michael Laudrup last season. How much anyone, himself included, expected to be manager of Swansea for this entire Premier League campaign is unknown. Nevertheless, he’s performed admirably well with Swansea despite the departures of some key players, including striker Wilifried Bony. A similar early season push as Southampton’s gave the club some small sliver of hope before reality set in. That said, the club will likely be encouraged by Monk’s flirting with the European places.

Season Highlight: The return of prodigal son Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Season Lowlight: A 0-5 thumping at the hands of the presumptive title winners Chelsea in January.

Future?

In. Being a club legend certainly helps, but its Swansea’s performances under his management that will keep Monk in power. Along with Stoke, he’ll be looking to be next season’s Southampton and challenge for a higher place on the table.
