The Premier League Game of Thrones
By Ryan Wrenn
Arsene Wenger – Arsenal
Projected Finish: 2nd
How’d he do?
Wenger will mark 19 years with the Gunners this coming August. He is far and away the longest serving still-active Premier League manager, and for good reason. Since his arrival, Arsenal have won the league three times and never finished lower than fourth. This season has followed that trend nicely, though Arsenal fans might still be asking for more silverware after an 11 year title drought.
Season Highlight: The Gunners’ unexpected 2-0 dismantling of Manchester City at the Etihad in January.
Season Lowlight: The 3-1 loss to Wenger’s former club Monaco in the opening stage of the Champions League knockout rounds.
Future?
In. Though every season brings some rumor that Wenger will be tempted to fill a vacancy at another club, his loyalty to the Gunners is unlikely to waiver. The pressure is mounting for him to mount a title challenge though, and he’ll likely look to retool and improve his Arsenal side over the summer.
