The Premier League Game of Thrones
By Ryan Wrenn
Sam Allardyce – West Ham
Projected Finish: 11th
How’d he do?
Allardyce is the second longest serving manager after Arsene Wenger. He’s pulled off the unlikely by transforming West Ham this season from long ball merchants to something resembling a possessive passing team. He’s been aided in this effort by some clever purchases in the transfer window and a renaissance in form from Stewart Downing. Though he was unable to keep West Ham in contention for a European spot, that he’s managed to perform so well amidst such transition is admirable.
Season Highlight: It feels like we’re beating up on City at this point, but it’s going to have to be the 2-1 win against the Citizens back in October.
Season Lowlight: Another season-ending injury to Andy Carroll.
Future?
Probably In. Though there have been some rumblings that West Ham want to move from Allardyce, his progressive tactics this season should keep him in east London.
