I’m surprised that the Welsh midfielder was unable to get himself on the scoring sheet, because he had a couple of excellent chances to find the back of the net. However, he deserves plenty of praise for finding dangerous positions so that he could have such excellent chances to score, and he certainly came out firing last night. Villa just couldn’t track his runs inside, because even though he’s listed as a right midfielder, he’s clearly more of a central player, as he moves inside when Bellerin marauds up the right flank.

Ramsey put in a quality performance, all told, and he also put in some work defensively with a team-leading five tackles. He could have been more clinical, wasn’t involved in the passing that often, and was dispossessed a team-leading four times, but he still played well yesterday due to the danger he post to Villa’s defense.
