UEFA Champions League Final 2015: FC Barcelona player ratings
GK Marc-Andre ter Stegen 6.0
One of the few weak points on an assured Barcelona side, the 23-year-old German goaltender looked nervy from the get-go and didn’t inspire confidence in-goal. However, he wasn’t a huge liability for his team, and he wasn’t the keeper who made the biggest mistake last night. Ter Stegen is undoubtedly one of the best young goalies in the world and was beyond fantastic in the quarterfinals and semifinals against both PSG and Bayern Munich, but he didn’t look assertive out there, with many criticizing his work on Juventus’s corners (which thankfully came to nothing).
Of course, ter Stegen cannot be faulted for Morata’s goal, as he did well to at least parry Carlos Tevez’s effort. He did have another smart stop on a Claudio Marchisio long shot, as those can always sting a keeper, and it was Marchisio who troubled the former Borussia Monchengladbach keeper the most.
