Venezuela ST Josef Martinez, Torino

Venezuela fans will be hoping that striker Josef Martinez, who might be one of the fastest players in the tournament, can establish himself as a clear part of his side’s future. At 22, Martinez is older than some of the names on this list but has plenty of potential and showed some of it in 1,553 minutes in the Serie A after last playing for the Swiss Super League’s BSC Young Boys and Thun on loan.

Although Martinez scored just three goals in his 20 Serie A appearances, he did look like a threat in the Europa League with two strikes in the net in just seven appearances. He seemed to be more aggressive in the tournament, though he attacked more frequently.

Derlis Gonzalez is more willing to track back and set up teammates than Martinez, though the Venezuelan can also play out wide (on the left). He has plenty of pace and upside, and he could become an exciting player in this tournament if he leads Venezuela to an important victory or two. Martinez will have to become more clinical, but we know he can be a dangerous threat and a real thorn in a defense’s side when he’s at his best.
