Madrid Will Lose if Ramos Leave in a Swap Deal for De Gea
The transfer window is heating up, and teams are lining up to shape their squad for the next campaign. One Transfer saga that surprisingly becomes the main talking point, is the rumors of Sergio Ramos leaving Santiago Bernabeu this transfer window. Even though Madrid is desperate to find a suitable replacement for aging Iker Casillas, but we still believe it will be Los Blancos who will have everything to lose if they let their star man in the defense to go away in the swap deal for the United Goal Keeper.
Speculation about Ramos future came up last week when news emerged that contract talks between Real Madrid and Sergio Ramos halted after the club refused to agree to the player’s demand in an increase in wages. However, reports suggest that few other problems also played a part in bringing down the situation to where they are today.
Ramos, a club a vice Captain, has always been seen as a real leader on the park for the whites for nearly a decade now. His relationship with the board and the President always remained good during all those years, but according to Marca (Madrid based newspaper), the relationship between Ramos and the current club President Florentino Perez is non – existent.
According to reports, relationship between Ramos and Perez started to deter when the player complained the President about Jose Mourinho, and insisted that his removal is necessary for the club to succeed in the future. In the recent times, Ramos did publicly disagreed with the board’s decision to let Ancelotti go after a trophy less season, and Perez seemingly now believes that Ramos is getting too big for a Club, and that his demands of a wage of €10 Million after tax per year is un-realistic & unacceptable.
El PAIS, another Madrid based newspaper reported that Ramos told Real Madrid that he wants to leave the Spanish giants for the Red Devils. Amid all of this confusion and speculation, Manchester United is monitoring Ramos situation closely and they have already tabled a £32 Million bid for the Spanish World Cup Winning defender, which was rejected by Madrid according to the Independent. With Manchester united standing firm on the sale of David De Gea, and may want to include Ramos in a Swap deal, the question is what should Madrid do from here?
Madrid is seemingly getting desperate to land a Goal Keeper to replace Iker Casillas between the sticks and United is giving them more than a tough time to take their star Goal Keeper away, and if the saga goes on, they might want to include Ramos in the straight Swap Deal, a deal which we believe should absolutely be a No – No for the Whites.
The reason why Madrid should never agree to such a swap deal is because Ramos is by far the best defender they have in their squad, a man who they look upon to stand up and be counted in crunch matches. He might not be the best defender in the World, but he is surely among the top 3 center backs in the World, and can also play in the Middle of the park if the team required him to do so. Apart from his Champions League Final stoppage time goal in the famous La Decima victory, where he literally snatched a revival for the Los Blancos from the jaws of the defeat, his performance throughout his carer for the white’s made him earn huge respect of the Bernabeu faithful.
His performance against Athletico Madrid in the Champions League quarter – final 2nd leg last season, where he had to play alongside Kroos in the middle of the park was absolutely astonishing and earned him a lot of praise. In a league match against Barcelona at Santiago Bernabeu, Ramos outplayed his national team colleague and Barcelona defender Gerard Pique in a performance that set up Madrid’s easy victory over their arch rivals. His performance throughout the last season once again make him stood out of all the Madrid defensive line.
All of this lead’s us to believe that Madrid should not let Ramos leave as a part of any deal, even if that include De Gea, as that will only weaken Los Blancos defense further and will create more problems next season. Instead, Madrid should turn their focus on any other available Goal Keeper to replace Casillas. One man Madrid should turn their eyes to, is Spurs Goal Keeper and French Captain Hugo Lloris, who wants a move away from White Hart Lane this season to get Champions League football. Lloris, who is only 28, still has at least more than 5-6 years to play as a Goal Keeper at the Top level, and was exceptional throughout the season for Spurs last year.
He was among the top 5 keepers in the league and earned some precious points for his team. With Lloris seem keen to leave Spurs this season, Madrid should be able to land him at Santiago Bernabeu, where he will re-unite with 3 of his national team mates in Benzema, Varane and Griezmann (who plays for city rival Atletico). This deal should also prove helpful in Madrid’s pursuit of Paul Pogba, who might be persuaded to play in the Spanish Capital with all of these National team colleagues around, who will help him settle in far easily than at Barcelona or Manchester City.
Reports from the Spanish TV Channel La Sexta coming in that Florentino called Ramos and told him that he will not be sold, but the news cannot be confirmed from any other credible source. Whatever the case may be, one thing is for certain that there is a “Storm” building up at the Santiago Bernabue, a storm which possibly can dent Madrid’s hope for a comeback next season. In desperate times, people look up to their leader’s to stand up and take them out of the trouble, and the same goes for Los Blancos. For Madrid, their leader is their Club President, who now holds the responsibility to make sure that Madrid will come out of this mess, with as little loss as possible or preferably with no loss at all.
