No major national team seems to be in more turmoil than Brazil.

Ever since being embarrassed by Germany 7-1 in the 2014 World Cup semifinals, the national team has been searching for answers on how to right the ship.

Their latest disappointment came in this summer’s Copa America, where they were eliminated in the quarterfinals by Paraguay.

Starting off the 2018 World Cup qualifying with Chile, Venezuela, and Argentina is not going to help.

CONMEBOL has gotten a lot stronger in terms of depth, with the likes of Colombia, Chile, Paraguay, and Ecuador quickly becoming global powers. Add in Argentina, and Brazil could find themselves on the brink of failing to qualify for the first time ever.

If head coach Dunga and Brazil can right the ship, Brazil should qualify, but right now, that seems like a big if.
