What a statement of intent from Manchester City at the start of the new Premier League season.

After handing a 3-0 drubbing to open their 2015-16 campaign, Man City took on the defending champions Chelsea in what was marked as an early title decider.

Man City took full advantage of their opportunity, and thumped the visitors by a shocking 3-0 scoreline.

The home team could have gone ahead in the first couple of minutes through striker Sergio Aguero, but he was denied by fill-in goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. Without the great performance from Begovic, the scoreline could have been even more lopsided.

Man City took the lead through Augero later in the half, and then piled on with a goal from Vincent Kompany and Fernandinho.

With many pundits predicting a draw or even a Chelsea win, Man City showed their title intent with the result.

In the young Premier League season, they look to be title favorites.
