As Deadline Day wraps up in England, Playing for 90 examines the biggest deals of the transfer window, the biggest flops (looking at you, Madrid), and the biggest winners.

ARSENAL

After sealing what was considered one of the transfers of the entire window in Petr Cech, Arsenal were completely quiet and failed to secure another deal despite fans clamoring for both a striker to support Giroud and the ever-elusive defensive midfielder that the team may not actually ever need.

There was no shortage of exits from Arsenal with few permanent deals and a whole list of loans, but supporters will think much differently of the window at the end of December if no improvement is seen. Olivier Giroud caught a lot of flacks last season for not being the type of striker to lead the North London club to the Premier League title, and many were suggesting that adding any sort of support for the Frenchman would potentially give the Gunners the boost they needed especially with Cech at the back, but no further deals were done despite links to Benzema, Higuain, and more.

Arsenal struggled in the opener with West Ham but have since begun to put together more and more competent performances and don’t look to be as out as most are making it seem. There is a lot of season ahead, but now fans are simply frustrated at a lack of dealings.
