LIVERPOOL

Uncharastically, most of the business done by the Merseyside club was done early in the window – and it looks as if it was done for the better. New acquisition Christian Benteke has already bagged a goal, and playmaker Roberto Firmino is adapting to life in the Premier League continually. With the absence of Jordan Henderson, James Milner has stepped in as club captain and it looks as if the only area they truly failed to improve at is in the center of defense.

Martin Skrtel’s place is locked down and has been for some time, but the embarrassing performances of Dejan Lovren have left a terrible taste in the mouth of those frequenting Anfield. Mamadou Sakho has quickly become a darling of the supporters, but his lack of playing time directly combined with the never-ending mistakes of Lovren leave the club in limbo defensively.

Liverpool won their first two and then earned a hard-fought point at the Emirates, but after being abashed at the feet of West Ham at the weekend there are still lingering worries and rightfully so.
